Finally, this generation forsook all of civilization and moved deep into the forests outside of the two-leg place they grew up in until they found the territories they reside in now.
There, six cats found themselves by a mysterious, seemingly endless lake. The lake gleamed in the moon light with a strange radiance that seemed to put the cats in a trance. A voice seemed to call across the gentle waves, commanding the cats to make these places their home.
Three of the cats were designated as leaders of the rest and the other three as advisers and healers, to be called Medicine Cats.
The trance culminated in a visit of starry felines who claimed they were passing on the customs of cats beyond the Unending Lake to three new clans.
Stone, a large strong tom was named Stonestar. He, these ancient cats declared, would lead the clan named Earthclan. They predicted that Earthclan would be filled with only the strongest warriors, bonded together with ties like that of a queen to her kits. The mysterious star-strewn cats then took turns giving the new leader nine lives full of energy, strength, courage, empathy and other noble qualities befitting a leader.
Next, the clever Fox was renamed Foxstar. She would lead a clan built on strength of wit over body which was to be called Nightclan. She was told to claim only warriors who were curious and who preferred the mysteries found in the dark to the answers of the light. She too was given nine lives to help her in her quest.
Finally, Achilles, who had forsaken the boring life of a kitty-pet for the adventures of the wilderness, was given the name Fiercestar for his bold spirit. He would lead Streamclan who, he was told, would consist of only the brave and the mischievous. The star clad cats gave him nine lives too.
Then the strange cats turned to the three new Medicine Cats. The life of the medicine cat was explained to them and the three were also given new names. There was Icegaze who would administer to the cats of Nightclan; and Fuzzfoot who would go with Stonestar to Earthclan; and Speckear who would care for Streamclan.
At last, the strange beings chanted the new names of the leaders and medicine cats and faded into the morning sun.
While Achilles, recently named Fiercestar, tried half-heartedly to deny what had occurred, none of the rest thought to do so. They parted ways, knowing that their companionship since leaving two-leg place was over.
They formed the three clans as they had been instructed to do, claimed their own territories and established camps.
Will the clans last long? Only Fate can decide...
